HCForums Racing Community F1 Manager 2010

Welcome

Will 2010 go down into Formula 1 history as the closest season ever? It could very well happen. The teams that were quick last year (Red Bull/Mercedes) seem to have carried that momentum into the new year. But it seems like the big budget teams have caught up to them (McLaren/Ferrari). And don't forget about the outsiders (BMW Sauber/Williams/Renault) who could very well go for podiums.

But its not all good news. 2010 will also mark the debut of several new teams. To put it mildly, these new teams aren't exactly the most professional teams on the grid. With just a week to go till the first Grand Prix it has become clear that only Lotus, Virgin and HRT will join the grid in Bahrain. Although it doesn't look very promising we do hope that some of you will have the balls to put some of these new teams in your entry. Who knows, maybe there's a little Brawn GP among them.

Last but not least there are a couple of other changes in the regulations. Will the refueling ban have much influence on race strategies? Same goes with the new points system. Also lets not forget that the top ten drivers in qualifying will have to use the same tyres when they start the race. For us the most important thing is the new points system. As we've said before, we will not be adopting it and will rather use the old 10/8/6/5/4/3/2/1. The drop off in points is simply too big. If there's a dominant car, like Brawn last year, it would completely ruin the manager and make it impossible for other members to fight back. For instance the difference between first and third is already 10 points, just too much. Should the system prove to be a success we can always implement it next year.

That's all folks. Lets hope we have a close and exciting year, good luck in making your picks and don't miss the deadline.

Previous F1 Manager Winners
2009: Jiipee
2008: BleedingGums
2007: Nelsinho
2006: Nelsinho

The Rules

In the F1 Manager game you have to choose six drivers and four teams. The drivers can be picked from six groups, this means you can't choose two drivers that are in the same group. The same rules apply to the teams, which are divided into four groups. You will score the same amount as points as your drivers and teams get. The points system is the system Formula 1 used the last couple of years.

1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 5 points
5th place: 4 points
6th place: 3 points
7th place: 2 points
8th place: 1 point

So when your drivers get 22 points, and your teams 11, you will get a combined result of 33 points. At the end of the year the member with the most points will win the game. When your driver is injured, or has another reason he can't drive, the reserve driver will score points for you. Entries are open to everyone, if you want to join just post your drivers and teams in this thread.

Don't forget that HRC is also running the manager on The Fastlane.

Bonus Points

In two races you can double your points, if you for example get 40 points it will be doubled to 80. Good luck on choosing your two events.

IMPORTANT: How to enter 2010 Manager?

In 2010 most Formula 1 cars will once again make a very late debut on track. HRC first needs to see who's fast and who's not before we can compile a good list of picks. So don't expect our list till somewhere in March. This could cause some members to forget that they wanted to enter our HRC F1 Manager and miss the deadline.

But now we have a simple way to ensure you won't forget about entering. You only have to make a post in this topic and we will PM you as soon as the list of drivers and teams is available. All you need to do then is pick which drivers and teams you want to have for 2010. So just make a post and say please PM me and then the HRC Crew will make sure you are in the running for the 2010 championship!

Its always a guess when you make the list. Last year everything was announced except the Honda team and everyone thought they would withdraw from the sport. So I had in the last two groups Honda Driver A and Honda Driver B, not thinking they would show up. That's how I oringally posted the list on the forum. But of course nobody that entered wanted to pick those. Then Ross Brawn announced he would take it over. So about a week before the first Grand Prix they got the car out for testing and they set amazing lap times. But I had already posted the list for a couple of months and people had already picked their drivers so I could not do a thing. The lucky winner of this game posted his picks in the final days leading up to the first Grand Prix, putting his money on Brawn.

And you have to agree with me that nobody believed in Brawn till the Friday at Melbourne. Even those quick times in testing, people said they did that to attract sponsors. So that's why we've decided to do this. Now we can post the list relatively late and have a good look at the testing times. Hopefully that will prevent us from not making a balanced list. But don't forget it remains a guess.

Don't forget that you can still let us know that you want to enter the 2010 edition.

We are waiting on the final drivers that need to announced. And we're also worried if all teams will actually make the grid. So the list won't be made public yet.

If you win you get eternal fame, how about that!

Well, I have thought about prizes but for now that isn't an option yet. However in the future it could happen.
