So I come home from Nelsinho's party on Saturday 2AM, park my car in front of my hous only to find it damaged the next morning. Someone broke off parts of the registration plate and kicked off the mirror. I will have to replace the casing of the registration plate and get the plate straightened out. The mirror was put back on, just like last year when it also got kicked off. But the paint is damaged but I'm hopeful that can be repaired too.
Just because I don't wash it every two months doesn't mean I'm not proud of it. Had spend two hours cleaning it inside the day before it got damaged. I will now only park it on our own lane, not in front of the house anymore. I did this for about two months when it happened last time out. But then got back to parking it in front because I thought this was an one time accident. But clearly now it seems they're doing it on purpose.
Just saw the horrific video of the crash of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, who sadly died because of his injuries. What a sad way to open Vancouver 2010. I don't understand why the track is made like that, hopefully they will quickly change it. I know its a dangerous sport but this looks like something they could have build differently.
Had an awesome day today at the Rally van Haspengouw. Got soaking wet in the morning and sunburnt in the afternoon. I had no idea where the service park was when all of a sudden a Group N Lancer passed me by. After that it all worked out pretty well, thanks to some knowledgeable people. Its pretty funny when I'm driving my Fiesta and in front of me there's this Focus WRC on the same road.
Because of the delays I could only catch three stages, which was pretty decent. Met a lot of nice folks who had some interesting stories. They're all a bunch of dedicated people. One had already planned attending the IRC finale at Cyprus while another just came back from the WRC at Sweden. Just about everybody I met is going to Germany for the WRC and doing all Belgian and Dutch rounds. Like I said: dedicated!
I'm certainly going to attend more of these things. I have a car so why not put it to use and see something of the wonderful world (of rally). Here's a picture of the final stage I attended. Pretty dangerous place, just after I left that spot somebody rolled.
I guess it was always going to be a problematic entrance to a festival. But the police holding up the crowd and then releasing it, is definitely the main cause here. They should be a ashamed. I'm sure it was hectic at the time and its always easier to have an opinion looking back. But the acting of the police in this video is just stupid.
